We are Jamie & Linda Hunter
Baby Boomers, born and raised in 1970s SoCal (Southern California ). Linda comes from a Sailing family, even racing her own boat at the age of 12. Jamie enjoyed surfing and competitive skateboarding. An amazing time and beautiful place to grow up. Eventually, the traffic, congestion, pollution, noise and expense of living there was too much. In the mid – 90’s we left for the open deserts and mountain vistas of Arizona.
But we were destined for a more nomadic lifestyle. Jamie’s favorite childhood memories were of him and his mom, his aunt and uncle, traveling the whole country in a pickup truck with a camper shell, and no, they didn’t stay in hotels. For a small boy in the 70’s, this was an ideal life! Not sure if the ladies on those trips would agree, but he never lost the passion for traveling the open road.
Between sports competitions and other travel, Linda loved visiting new places and told Jamie, when they met, she could see herself living almost everyplace she’d ever been.
We’ve moved a lot and would have moved even more, but responsibilities always won out. The last few years were spent caring for Linda’s parents who have both passed, reminding us again how fast life goes by. We’ve crossed the halfway point of life and decided enough! Who are we really? What make us happiest? Is it really all about working and saving for a dream retirement when there’s no guarantee we will arrive there alive, let alone healthy enough to enjoy it?
The answer for us is absolutely not! We CAN live everywhere, at the best times of year because we can take our home with us! We hope to make new friends and take time to get to know places, not just visit them.
So…We bought ourselves an RV. A new to us, 2001 Holiday Rambler Ambassador, 36′ Diesel Pusher. We named her Rosebud (Citizen Cane). We call her Rosie. And we are bringing Dexter! 50lbs of hyper canine on 6 inch legs who HATES being in a car! We hope you’ll come along, and invite your friends, as we travel, remodel Rosie, and Dexter goes to Obedience Classes!
